Despite hiring more drivers, the bus contractor for Roanoke City Public Schools missed most of the district’s demands for “substantially improved” service at the risk of losing its contract.

School board members last month commended Durham School Services for making improvements but expressed reservations about whether the company could keep it up. They did not take any action on Durham’s contract. The board expects another update next week.
