Across Roanoke, predominantly Black neighborhoods have disproportionately high rates of incarceration, data show.

A section of Northwest Roanoke has one of the highest incarceration rates in Virginia, according to a Rambler analysis of new data.

That means a greater percentage of residents who lived there have been locked up in state prisons compared to nearly anywhere else.
