  • 11 a.m. to Noon — 81st Anniversary D-Day Commemoration Ceremony at the National D-Day Memorial (3 Overlord Circle, Bedford). Free admission until noon.
  • 5 to 8 p.m. — Art opening: John Wiercioch Collection at LinDor Arts (306 First St., Roanoke). A collection of spontaneous and harmonious abstract paintings by Roanoke Valley's favorite abstract painter. Open through June 28.

Join us for a fun, untimed 20k or 20-mile bicycle ride to benefit Pathfinders for Greenways and PedalSafe ROA. This event is designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to celebrate, explore, and enjoy one of Roanoke’s greatest assets—our city’s system of greenways and parks.

  • 10 to 11 a.m. — N&W Architectural History Walking Tour presented by the Historical Society of Western Virginia starting at the O. Winston Link Museum (101 Shenandoah Ave., Roanoke). During this one-hour, guided walking tour, discover how the N&W railway shaped the city's built environment and how that company’s present left an enduring legacy in the city. ($) 
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Summer of Support Resource Fair presented by National Alliance on Mental Illness at Rivers Edge (302 Wiley Dr. SW, Roanoke). The Taubman Museum of Art is proud to present a brand-new exhibition, Opposites Abstract: A Mo Willems Exhibit. Exciting hands-on activity stations accompany the 20 paintings that make up the exhibition. The party will feature children’s activities, cake, and live music from Einstein’s Monkey. ($)

Show and Share reception at 4 p.m. Throughout the day, participating artists will create works of art showcasing historic Fincastle’s buildings. Join historian Brittany Flowers and Friends of Washington Park to dive into the history of Washington Park. This lecture will explore how this green space evolved from a symbol of oppression to a stage for protest and community resilience and determination.

A walking tour that connects Roanoke's local food scene with the city's colorful history. Visit six food-tasting locations within the historic and vibrant downtown historic district. Delicious samplings, enough for a hearty meal for most, are served from locally-owned eateries at iconic historic locations. ($)
  • Every Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — VA Works Assistance presented by the Virginia Department of Workforce Development and Advancement in Meeting Rooms B and C at the Roanoke City Main Library (706 S.
