- Friday, 9/12 to Saturday, 9/13 — Daniel Barksdale’s “The Company You Keep: The Stage Play” at the Jefferson Center’s Fostek Performance Hall (541 Luck Ave., Roanoke). While piecing together the circumstances surrounding a loved one's passing, the family encounters unexpected challenges and shocking revelations that significantly impact their understanding of what happened. - Friday, 9/12 to Saturday, 9/13 — “Sylvia” presented by The Bear Theatre (aka Exit, Pursued by Bear) at Community High (302 Campbell Ave. SE, Roanoke). A.R. Gurney’s play in which a stray dog comes between a middle-aged couple at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives. Ages 13+. ($)
- Friday, 9/12 to Sunday, 9/14 — Music Festival: FOMO on the Farm featuring The Snozzberries w. The Actuals; ROSEBUD; and Hazy Petals at Indigo Mountain Farm (564 Indigo Mountain Rd. NW., Floyd). Gates will open Friday Sept.12th at 4:00pm and the music starts at 7:15 Friday with three acts and four sets. Saturday Sept. 13th, gates open at 12:00 noon and music starts at 2:30pm. - Friday, 9/12 to Sunday, 9/14 — Final weekend: Beaver Dam Sunflower Festival (13561 Lee Highway, Buchanan). Children 5 and under free. Service dogs only; animals left in vehicles will trigger a call to animal control. Heavy rains cancel; no refunds. Check the website for hours and special events. ($)
- Friday, 9/12 to Sunday, 9/14 — PickleBrawl in the Blue Ridge at Moyer Sports Complex (1000 Union St., Salem). Registration is closed; spectators welcome.
- Friday 9/12 to Sunday 9/14 — Virginia's Blue Ridge GO Cross Cyclocross Race presented by Fat Tire at Fallon Park Cyclocross Course (2116 Dale Ave., Roanoke). Professional and amateur cyclists from all over the world will compete in cyclocross. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the food, beer, expo, and festival atmosphere.

Loosen up your body while adding strength, balance and coordination. This class is both seated and standing with support from the chair or wall. - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Olde Salem Days presented by the Rotary Club of Salem along Main Street in Downtown Salem. This annual event showcases regional Artists and Craftsmen as they display their work on Main Street and side streets of downtown Salem. This work attracts thousands of people who will stroll downtown to view and select their purchases from a wide assortment of handmade creations.
- 9 a.m. — Roanoke 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb presented by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation at Wells Fargo Tower (S. 10 Jefferson St., Roanoke). The NFFF 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on September 11, 2001. Each participant pays tribute to an FDNY firefighter by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. This event is open to the community. Register in advance or on site. ($)
- 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Boones Mill Apple Festival in Downtown Boones Mill. Featuring a hundred eclectic vendors and exhibitors, live music, activities, kid zone, carriage rides, and apple-themed food. Benefits Healing Strides.
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — The Blue Ridge Bee Festival at 1257 County Farm Road, Bedford.
